Mabel’s Dream
Madison 1930 Looking Backward, Families and Traditions.
Mabel Chittenden dreamed of writing a book. For many years she wrote about her beloved town telling and retelling the stories told by her relatives. Friends typed her manuscripts and local artists created original artwork to illustrate these stories.Mabel’s dream was never realized; her book was never published. The Evarts Archives is fortunate to have acquired both Mabel’s manuscripts and her art work both - as originals and as slides of the originals. It was Mabel’s dream to share her family’s rich history with her friends and neighbors. The Evarts Archives plans to bring that dream to reality. This exhibit of reproductions of the artwork for her book is one step in the lengthy process of bringing the dream to life.
